![]() ![]() IMHO it will only change if CineD, Facebook moderators share articles and WARNING people to use "Creative LUTs". But the reality is that a lot of amateurs are still using Adobe Premiere.Īnd a lot of people are still using LUTs and searching for better LUTs. We wrote an article about this LUT Company. Or they could ask ONE (only one) true Colorist and ask him or her: "Hej. I don´t understand that CineD for example is doing a "Dynamic Range" Test for Cameras, but is not Stresstesting LUTs. Those moderators or the Guys from CineD doesn´t know much about dolor grading either. Red, Kinefinity, Blackmagic) and sites like CineD. I am fine with it.īut what "We" need is a bit more awareness from Facebook Moderators (mostly camera groups. If someone want to make a LUT and sell it. Those are more "stylistic" LUTs by Osiris and I´ve also testes. And I´ve also spottet courves that goes up and the very end down again that will definilty "break" the image. Some RGB lines go to zero to early (crushed), other linies will never hit zero. So "tetrahedral" is a an improvement, but even without the "wave-lines" those LUTs are very bad because often the is no neutral gray. The default "trilliniar" will be good enough. ![]() I read about it, but forget to switch it to " tetrahedral".īecause back in my mind, I thought: Well. I changed the "LUT interpolation" to "tetrahedral" and the waves are totally gone. It is impossible to work with those LUTs.Ĭlick to expand.Thank you. Learn Color grading and use split screen to match the colors and build your own PowerGrade. ![]() And don't use them! If you like the Look. It will not stop if everyone is trying to be nice to each other.ĭo what you want. It is also a shame that facebook moderators in camera groups are also supporting those bad LUTs, too. Maybe write a letter to CineD and everyone who is promoting those bad LUTs. And "real colorist" should stand up and say: Please don´t promote it. Those LUTs are a problem for the industry. And the second day the client came in and said: "Why do you not just buy the lutify LUT? I want that exact Look!" and the colorist have to tell his client that he cannot use that LUT because it is not clean and he can rebuild the LUT but it will not look exactly the same and the client thought the colorist is just to stupid to apply the LUT and want to rip him off. I also know a colorist who were working with a client. I have zero respect for those guys who are selling bad LUTs. Those tools are bad, but CineD and other big websites with 5.000 view and more per day are promoting those tools, because they think this is a solution to get a "cinematic image" and know nothing about colorgrading. I deeply respect people building tools and show and sell those tools. No One wants to talk bad about other creators. The reaction was that I was a "Hater" and the best comment was: " Keep grading grayscale images, Idiot, those LUTs are great" or something similar. That the images looks nice, but the LUT is not clean. I was sharing the Waveform and told people to test LUTs first. He was telling me that he is using Adobe Premiere creating those LUTs. I asked the guy about his final color space (Maybe Rec709) and he did not even know what a Color Space / Rec709 is. I´ve tested those LUTs and the LUTs are dirty / bad. He got 300 likes everytime he is posting those images and was selling over 4.000 units of his LUTs for 40 Bucks on Etsy or a similar platform. On some camera group some LUT creator was sharing some "cinematic LUTs" by showing some really nice images/video. This comment really makes me a little angry because of the ignorance behind it.Īnd because of a similar sitation I had a couple of weeks ago on facebook. " Vision Color" is the Guy / Company behind ImpulZ and Osiris.ĭo you think the "ImpulZ" LUTs are better than the Osiris LUTs? ![]()
